Power of Positivity #2 – Words

Hi folksies!

This is shaping up to be the year to end all years. And at the moment, I can’t divulge a word of it. Talk about frustration! But this blog is all about the + this year, so I’ll save the – for anyone who cares to hear me bitch on Twitter. ;)

So for my second post full of positivity, I thought I’d share another thing I love.

WORDS.

Duh, I know, right? She’s a writer, of course she loves words. No. You guys don’t understand. I am OBSESSED with words. I read everything. I read the labels of the shampoo and conditioner bottles while I’m in the shower. EVERY DAY. I read the lyrics of almost every new song I hear. I paste quotes all around my desk at home and at work, and I re-read them constantly. I read the ingredients of everything. Not because I care what’s in stuff, but because I adore the sight of words.

Mmmmm, Corn Syrup Solids…

I envy people like my best friend, who has GORGEOUS penmanship. I want to be able to shape words like she does, because words are even BETTER when someone who can actually write neatly writes them. My own words tend to look like staggering drunks after a three-day bender. Not so pretty.

When I was a teenager I devoured books like the Pit of Sarlacc devours, well, everything. Three or four in a day, no problem. Of course, I love books for more than just the words. I love the stories too. But that’s a whole ‘nother monkey barrel. This post is about the building blocks that I love so very much.

Why are words so rockin’? I don’t know. I think it was my love of words that made me start writing crap poetry in elementary

school. It landed me my first publishing gig. *sniffs*

So, I love words. I love every kind of word. Wish I could hug all of them, but I can’t, can’t hug every word.

What words to you love?

I’ll leave you with my favorite word of all time.

Accoutrements.

Leave me the words you love below!
